Since 2016 Saietta has undertaken rigorous R&D and testing for an innovative, unique motor topology, with low-cost raw materials, designed for low-cost, automated assembly. Saietta is now evolving from a pure R&D company into one that also manufactures its own motors.

Overview:

  • We have an opening for an experienced Motor Test Engineer to join our team at Silverstone. The role is aligned to the test, validation and development of our innovative electric motors and electric drive units.
  • The role will involve the development and application of test equipment and test parameters, in line with the electric vehicle industry
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will work closely with the design and development teams to ensure the effective test and validation of products, both as part of pre prototype production and as part of our production test activities. 
  • Typical tests may include thermal, efficiency, drag, torque and EMF. The role will work closely with the test and development engineers and technicians to ensure efficient running and accurate data capture and analysis.

About the ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate would be versatile and well versed in electric motor test cycle procedures, equipment, data capture, fault finding and analysis. The successful candidate will have demonstrable practical mechanical skills, that has worked within the automotive, industrial control or automation, rail/rolling stock or aerospace industry.

Expected skills and experience:

  • Experience in a ‘hands-on’ testing role within a R&D environment (developing prototypes, validating components, systems and equipment)
  • Practical mechanical, build and assembly skills to enable effective, safe and efficient test rig assembly and commissioning
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant test system software and programming applications.
  • Knowledge of data collation for interpreting and processing test results would be very useful (i.e. use of tools such as Excel or Python)
  • A methodical approach to tasks, with a good eye for detail
  • The ability to understand and work from engineering drawings
  • Good problem solving skills with the ability to proactively provide alternative solutions
  • Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and problems seamlessly
  • An inquisitive mind, computer literacy and good communication skills are required

Beneficial skills and experience:

  • Experience with the assembly and test of electric motors and associated test / dyno equipment
  • A recognised qualification, such as an HNC, HND or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, is essential.
  • A natural interest in electric vehicles, cars, motorsport or hybrids and renewable technologies, or similar
